Perlane
Recently a new product has been introduced to the market to treat very deep wrinkles and nasolabial folds. Perlane, from the same manufacturer as Restylane, maintains the excellent quality and its safety has been confirmed in different clinical trials.
Dr. Suarez is always up-to-date with the latest protocols and procedures and he now offers Perlane at Pinecrest Medical Spa, conveniently located in Miami.
Perlane® restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Perlane is often applied in combination with Restylane. This filler has a different density than Restylane and it can last up to 1 year.
Depending on your specific needs, Dr. Suarez will determine in your free consultation if your case needs Perlane. If he determines it is necessary, Dr. Suarez will apply it to the deepest creases. If necessary, Dr. Suarez will apply Restylane to the thinner wrinkles to achieve the best results.

After your treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, and bruising. This will normally last less than seven days. Although rare, red or swollen small bumps may occur. If you have had herpes before, an injection can cause the herpes to return. In rare circumstances, the doctor may inject into a blood vessel, which can damage the skin. To avoid bruising and bleeding, you should not use Perlane if you have recently used drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn’t use Perlane®.

Please observe the following after treatment with Perlane®:
-
Cold compresses (a cloth dipped in cold water, wrung out, and applied to the injected area) may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.
-
Avoid touching the treated area within six hours following treatment so you do not accidentally injure your skin while the area is numb. After that, the area can be gently washed with soap and water.
-
Until there is no redness or swelling, avoid exposure of the treated area to intense heat (sun lamp or sun bathing).
-
If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another occurrence.
-
Speak to your physician about medications that may minimize a recurrence.
-
Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of vitamin E supplements for one week after treatment. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
